This position requires a person who is self motivated, can handle multiple tasks while working with others, and exhibits an uncompromising pursuit of perfection that results in performance excellence.

This person will coordinate and direct the activities of several teams engaged in the recycling process. This position will be a direct supervisor to a team of manufacturing associates. Production Supervisors may be responsible for multiple manufacturing areas for a defined shift.

This position requires a person with a desire to experience manufacturing in a plant environment and would have an Associate degree or equivalent experience. It is expected that this individual will require a minimum level of supervision, will have a high degree of decision making latitude.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise plant operations in accordance with plant policies and procedures.
  • Train, coach, mentor and lead plant hourly employees for improved performance.
  • Encourage and engage in the development of hourly employees.
  • Counsel and complete necessary documentation for training or corrective actions and violations of Plant Rules.
  • Conduct regular employee performance evaluations.
  • Responsible for shift schedule to include: assignments/rotations, employee training, employee vacations, employee breaks, overtime assignment, and back-up for absent employees.
  • Coordinate production startups, shutdowns, and changeovers.
  • Conduct Supervisor to Supervisor pre & post shift meetings and walk-throughs.
  • Schedule and conduct Tool Box Meeting meetings with hourly employees on a daily basis.
  • Collaborate with hourly plant employees and quality department to make adjustments as necessary during shift to produce product within quality specifications. Reject product outside of specifications.
  • Complete shift paperwork daily, to include: Safety, Quality, and Productivity as well as work area logs.
  • Ensure that production visual boards, process boards and accountability boards are filled out properly and complete the necessary follow up for open items.
  • Develop and sustain Standardized Work and Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Ensure that hourly employees follow Standardized Work and Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Enhance 5S program for all work and office areas.
  • Oversee hourly workforce to ensure employees are working in a safe manner and in compliance with all EHS policies and procedures.
  • Active participation with scheduled training and meetings.
  • Accountable for all department equipment, including mobile equipment.
  • Ensure that daily checks are completed and documented.
  • Maintain a good visual management through the work area.

Qualifications

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
  • High School Diploma or GED required. An Associate's degree is a plus
  • Strong leadership and development skills.
  • Must have good verbal & written communication skills, including the ability to speak to large group audiences.
  • 5 years previous supervisory experience in a production environment preferred.
  • Able to read, write and speak English.
  • Proficient in basic addition and subtraction. Understand temperature and weight measures.
  • Ability to read and interpret blue prints is preferred.
  • Proficient with MS Office Products (Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Outlook, and Word)
  • Working knowledge of leading in a union environment.
  • Experience with Toyota Production Systems, Lean Manufacturing, or Six Sigma Certification a plus.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be frequently exposed to fumes, dust, airborne particles, and extreme heat and humidity.
  • Some work is performed in an office environment. Significant time will be required in the manufacturing facility, where lead exposure is likely. Noise levels in the manufacturing facility are usually high and hearing protection is required. All employees are required to wear full face respirators inside the manufacturing facility and must be able to pass a respirator physical and fit-test. Qualified candidates must be able to sit, stand, walk, bend, and climb with minimal effort. Must be able to lift 40 pounds.
