Nurse Technician Starr Regional Medical Center

Location: Starr Regional Medical Center Athens or Etowah, TN Department: Medical-Surgical / Nursing Support Job Type: PRN

Position Summary: At Starr Regional Medical Center, Nurse Technicians are essential to ensuring high-quality, compassionate patient care. Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN), you'll perform direct patient care activities and unit support tasks that promote safe, efficient care and smooth patient flow. You'll assist with activities of daily living, monitor vital signs, support nursing and physician staff, and help maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked environment.

You'll play a hands-on role in improving the patient experience and strengthening our mission of Making Communities Healthier through teamwork, accountability, and service excellence.

Essential Functions:

• Provide basic patient care as delegated and supervised by an RN, including monitoring vital signs, blood glucose checks, and recording intake/output.
• Assist patients with daily activities such as bathing, grooming, eating, toileting, and ambulation.
• Observe and promptly report any abnormal physical, mental, or emotional findings to nursing staff.
• Maintain clean, safe, and appropriately stocked patient rooms and common areas.
• Support nursing and physician staff by managing tech desk operations and contributing to efficient department flow.
• Document care and patient activities accurately and in a timely manner.
• Participate in continuing education, performance improvement, and team initiatives.

Qualifications:

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Licensure/Certification: SRNA or EMT preferred. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required (may be obtained within 30 days of hire). "Handle with Care" certification preferred.
• Skills & Abilities: Strong critical thinking and communication skills. Ability to multitask and work effectively in a fast-paced environment. Proficient in documentation and use of electronic medical systems. Must demonstrate compassion, professionalism, and teamwork.

Working Conditions:

• Populations Served: Neonate through older adult.
• Physical Demands: Frequent standing, walking, lifting/moving patients, and repetitive motions.
• Environmental Exposure: Possible contact with biohazardous waste, communicable diseases, and hazardous materials.
