Position Summary:
The Millwright/Roll Grinderman is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and installing mechanical equipment throughout the paper mill, with a specialized focus on precision grinding and maintenance of paper machine rolls. This position ensures optimal machine performance and contributes directly to product quality and equipment reliability.
Roll Grinderman Duties:
Set up and operate roll grinding machines to recondition paper machine rolls to precise tolerances.
Inspect rolls for wear, damage, and surface finish using micrometers and other precision tools.
Maintain grinding equipment and ensure calibration and accuracy.
Document grinding specifications and maintain roll history records.
Collaborate with operations and reliability teams to optimize roll performance and longevity.
Qualifications:
Journeyman Millwright certification or equivalent experience.
Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
Ability to read precision instruments and interpret technical drawings.
Familiarity with safety protocols and lockout/tagout procedures.
Preferred Skills:
Experience operating roll grinding or machining equipment in an industrial setting.
Basic computer skills for maintenance documentation and CMMS systems.
