Job Description

We are eager to hire a Corporate Safety Director for our Commercial Electrical subcontracting business! This position will be performed out of the Stockton, CA headquarters.

Base pay range

$140,000.00/yr - $180,000.00/yr

Responsibilities

Strategic Safety Planning and Policy Development

  • Develop and implement strategic safety plans and policies aligned with company goals and industry best practices.
  • Regularly review and update safety policies to reflect changes in regulations, technology, and project requirements.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to integrate safety initiatives into overall business strategies.

Regulatory Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal safety regulations, including Cal/OSHA standards and requirements.
  • Stay abreast of regulatory changes and proactively implement necessary adjustments to ensure compliance.

Safety Training and Education

  • Develop and deliver comprehensive safety training programs for employees at all levels, including new hire orientation, specialized training for highrisk activities, and ongoing refresher courses.
  • Coordinate with external training providers as needed to supplement inhouse programs.

Safety Performance Monitoring and Reporting

  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure safety performance across projects company wide.
  • Regularly analyze safety data, trends, and incident reports to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
  • Prepare and present regular safety performance reports to executive leadership and relevant stakeholders.

Risk Assessment and Hazard Mitigation

  • Conduct thorough risk assessments for construction projects, identifying potential hazards and implementing appropriate controls to mitigate risks.
  • Collaborate with project teams to develop sitespecific safety plans and ensure their effective implementation.
  • Provide guidance on the selection and use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safety equipment.

Safety Culture Promotion

  • Promote a culture of safety consciousness and accountability throughout the organization.
  • Lead by example in demonstrating a commitment to safety excellence and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Encourage open communication and feedback channels for reporting safety concerns and suggestions for improvement.

Incident Investigation and Root Cause Analysis

  • Lead investigations into safety incidents and near misses, conducting thorough root cause analyses to identify underlying factors and prevent recurrence.
  • Develop and implement corrective and preventive actions based on investigation findings.

Vendor and Contractor Safety Management

  • Evaluate and select vendors and contractors based on their safety performance and adherence to safety standards.
  • > Establish clear safety expectations for vendors and contractors and monitor their compliance throughout the duration of projects.

Workmen's Compensation and Claims Management

  • Oversee the company's workmen's compensation program, including the administration of claims, reporting requirements, and coordination with insurance providers.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for injured employees and their supervisors, providing guidance on the claims process and facilitating access to medical treatment and rehabilitation services.
  • Conduct thorough investigations of work-related injuries and illnesses to determine eligibility for compensation and identify opportunities for prevention.
  • Collaborate with legal counsel and insurance representatives to manage claims disputes, negotiations, and settlements in accordance with company policies and legal requirements.
  • Develop strategies to minimize the frequency and severity of workmen's compensation claims through proactive safety measures, training initiatives, and ergonomic improvements.
  • Maintain accurate records of workmen's compensation claims, expenses, and trends, providing regular reports to executive leadership and relevant stakeholders for analysis and decisionmaking.

Leadership of Direct Reports

  • Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to direct reports within the safety department, fostering a highperformance culture and promoting professional development.
  • Delegate tasks and responsibilities effectively, ensuring alignment with departmental goals and priorities.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback to support individual growth and achievement.

Education / Experience

  • Bachelors degree in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR).
  • Direct Management of Workers Compensation Claims, general liability claims, and insurancerelated responsibilities.
  • Three to five years construction safety experience.
  • OSHA 30 Certification.
  • OSHA 500 Coursepreferred.
  • CPR/First Aid Certification.
  • Minimum of 710 years of progressively responsible experience in construction safety management, with a proven track record of success in developing and implementing safety programs.
