Accounting Specialist

We are looking for an organized and detail-oriented Accounting Specialist to join our team in Avondale, Missouri. This is a contract-to-permanent position that offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the city's financial and administrative operations. The ideal candidate will have experience managing financial tasks, preparing reports, and supporting city council activities.

Responsibilities:

• Process monthly checks and ensure timely payments for city expenses.
• Handle deposits twice a month and maintain accurate records of transactions.
• Manage utility bill payments and ensure all accounts are up-to-date.
• Generate and present financial reports from QuickBooks to the city's Board.
• Record minutes during monthly evening meetings and distribute them accordingly.
• Perform data entry tasks with precision and efficiency.
• Prepare agendas and take detailed notes for city council meetings.
• Collaborate with city officials to support administrative and financial processes.

Requirements:

• Proven experience with accounts payable processes.
• Proficiency in using QuickBooks for financial reporting and record-keeping.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
• Attention to detail and accuracy in data entry tasks.
• Experience in preparing agendas and taking meeting minutes.
• Familiarity with municipal or city operations is a plus.
